Community Service

Harker DECA partnered with Sending Sunshine, a nonprofit delivering uplifting letters to seniors in assisted living. After officers announced the initiative at the Power Trip conference, members were moved to action - nearly everyone stayed to write handwritten cards, with several freshmen expressing a desire to continue working with the organization on their own time.

Innovations + Entrepreneurship

The chapter's innovations campaign opened with DECA Launch, a two-day event that introduced incoming freshmen to DECA through a campus-wide scavenger hunt, roleplay workshops, and a family showcase. Members also conducted on-site business profiles of Bay Club, Slunks, and Maman Bakery (interviewed in Washington D.C.), and hosted Gavin Ho - Chief Strategy Officer of TDK's Sensor Systems Business Company - for an entrepreneurship speaker event that inspired members to explore careers in business and innovation.

Harker DECA ran three school outreach events during DECA Month: a packed Ice Cream Social that drew over 100 students, a Hustle 4 Muscle charity volleyball tournament raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and a Mentor Retreat game night celebrating the chapter's mentor program. Community outreach included Dine with DECA - a lunch connecting students with executives from Amazon, Yahoo, Securiti AI, and more - a behind-the-scenes tour of Oracle Park with the SF Giants, and three alumni Instagram takeovers showcasing life after Harker DECA.

Advocacy

During CTE Month in February, the chapter hosted a 67 Soccer game (featuring a 6'7" inflatable soccer ball that sold out signups in a single day), an Ice Cream Social with career-themed raffles, and TikTok and Instagram interviews capturing members' career aspirations. The chapter also sent advocacy letters to Congressman Ro Khanna, SF Mayor Daniel Lurie, and the California State Board of Education, and organized community outreach including DECA Office Hours with parent industry professionals, a speaker event with Ravi Kapur (founder of Diya TV), and letter-writing in support of the Silvanus Foundation's CTE initiatives.
