Meet your Harker DECA Chapter Advisor, Mr. Glass!
Hard-working, positive, and caring, Juston Glass is the Director of the Business and Entrepreneurship Department at Harker. Aside from DECA, he is also the advisor for TEDx, CareerConnect, Investment Club, Podcast Series, BEcon, and Harker Incubator. His favorite part about DECA is seeing students who have previously not won work hard and continue to practice, ultimately winning both events at the next conference.
Meet our 2023 - 2024 Co-CEO, Claire Luo! Claire is a rising senior who is interested in math, economics, and design. Her favorite part of DECA is meeting new people and friends from both within the Harker chapter and also from all around the world at international conferences. She is excited to spend her summer visiting Washington and pursuing her interests at an internship. A fun fact about Claire is that she is absolutely terrified of roller coasters.
Meet Chloe Lee, our second Co-CEO for the 2023-24 year. Chloe likes to watch baseball games and travel with friends. Her favorite DECA memory is getting 2nd place (out of 2) acts in the DECA SVCDC Talent Show. This summer, she is excited to visit LA and get her scientific research project published. Fun fact! She has a 4th degree black belt in taekwondo.
Meet this year’s VP of Operations, Caleb Tang! Outside of DECA, Caleb is interested in sports and business. This summer, he is excited for research and traveling. His favorite part of DECA is “the ego boost you get after you win and everyone congratulates you.” Fun Fact! He’s been a fan of Deebo Samuel since before everyone else knew him.
Meet this year’s VP of Competitions, Sanaa Bhorkar! Outside of DECA, Sanaa spends her time pursuing computer science, dance, and legos. This summer, she is excited for science and economic research programs, volunteering, and traveling. She says her favorite part of DECA is “the sudden boost of adrenaline [she] gets right before competing.” Fun fact! She brings a stuffed animal named Juanito with her everywhere she travels.
Meet this year’s VP of Public Relations, Gabe Li! In his free time, Gabe likes to listen to music and stretch. This summer, he is excited to study biology and also prepare to take the SATs. His favorite part of DECA is hanging out with friends at conferences. Fun Fact! He unfortunately buzzed his head.
Meet this year’s Director of Logistics, Amishi Gupta! In her free time, Amishi pursues student leadership, studies economics, and completes escape rooms. This summer, she is excited to stay up late and catch up on her favorite kdramas. Her favorite part of DECA is the “last minute prep the night before a roleplay/presentation with friends.” Fun fact! She gave her first ICDC presentation on a wheelchair.
Meet this year’s Director of Finances, Tanvi Sivakumar! Tanvi spends her time pursuing volunteer programs and research. This summer, she is excited to travel and work at an internship. Her favorite part of DECA is meeting new people and winning glass. Fun Fact! She has a dog named Snoopy.
Meet this year’s Director of Membership, Sahil Varma! Outside of DECA, Sahil likes to spend his time watching and playing sports and traveling. This summer, he is excited to work and spend time with friends. His favorite part of DECA is meeting new people & living with his friends in a hotel away from home. Fun Fact! He was the MVP of his soccer league when he was 6 years old.
Meet this year’s Director of Roleplays, Robinson Xiang! In his free time, Robinson enjoys playing basketball, running cross country, and pursuing computer hardware. Over summer break, he is excited to visit family in China for the first time in 7 years! Robinson’s favorite aspect of DECA is “helping and seeing others reach beyond their potential in competitions.” Fun Fact! He can also wiggle his ears.
Meet this year’s Director of Testing, Maya Affaki! Maya spends her free time dancing and working with kids. This summer, she is excited to volunteer at her ballet studio and also mentor at the MS ELI program. Her favorite part of DECA is competing in “roleplays because [she] gets to talk a lot.” Fun Fact! She dominates at 2048.
Meet this year’s Director of Written Events, Yena Yu! Outside of DECA, Yena likes to play sports, travel, and drink passion fruit iced tea. This summer, she is excited to visit Korea and Japan. Her favorite part of DECA is “uniting creativity and knowledge to experience the difference with her Harker chapter.” Fun Fact! She collects “I was here” Starbucks cups from all around the world!
Meet this year’s Director of Communications, Lauren Lin! In her free time, Lauren likes to sleep. This year, she is excited to visit Singapore and “hopefully not get arrested for chewing gum.” Her favorite part of DECA is wearing a suit and going to Disneyland with friends. Fun fact! She’s a ginger now.
Meet this year’s Director of Engagement, Eden Kelly! Outside of DECA, Eden plays volleyball, soccer, and track. She also loves to bake. This summer, she is excited to visit Hawaii and attend a law program. Her favorite part of DECA is competing at the conferences with her friends. Fun fact! She forgot to change the address on Doordash at a DECA conference and she ordered six bobas to her house instead of the hotel.
Meet this year’s Director of Technology, Kimi Yashar. In her free time, Kimi likes to volunteer, study computer science, and go to concerts with friends. This summer, she is excited to meet new people at research programs and go to the Drake concert. Her favorite part of DECA is exploring and networking at conferences. Fun Fact! Her dog is part bunny.
